Located in the Nevada desert of the United States of America, the spectacular sights of Las Vegas is something I believe everyone should see once in their lifetime.
This city has it all, even if you are not a gambler there is so much to see and do. With loads of free activities and attractions that wont cost you a thing it doesn’t have to break the bank for you to enjoy everything it has to offer.
Each casino has its own theme, just walking the strip and looking at what each casino has to offer will take days. My partner and I stayed at the "New York-New York", with its scale sized Statue of Liberty and a roller coaster that encircles the building it has everything to offer that the city that never sleeps is all about, from the iconic steam coming out of the ground to the Big Apple Bar, to well known American food outlets the name of the hotel/casino says it all.
Las Vegas at night is spectacular; with all its neon flashing lights it definitely a spectacle to be seen. We visited in August, which is their summer; it is a dry heat, without the humidity. We found it quite comfortable. Having walked the strip during the day and night we felt quite safe, it is only when you go off the strip and go wandering into dark alleys that you may find yourself in trouble. There is so much nightlife going on whatever your taste, and you wont have to worry about the lack of food choices either. Weather you are into buffets, takeaways, fine dining, cafe’s or restaurants the choices are endless, however, I do recommend the MGM Buffet. This was one of my personal favorites as I got to sample all the different types of American food.
A must see at night is the dancing fountains out the front of the "Bellagio" and for a spectacular aerial view of the fountains go to the top of the Eiffel Tower located at the "Paris". "Treasure Island" also holds a free pirates show, which is worth a look, and as Las Vegas is known as the entertainment capital of the world, with endless stage shows to choose from you wont be short of choice. Visiting downtown will take you back to where Las Vegas all started. It is loaded with market stalls and discounted shops to grab those souvenirs and there is also a laser show that is definitely worth experiencing.
During the day: - take a trip to the M&M’s shop, it is 4 stories has every M&M merchandise than you can possibly imagine and of course the option of purchasing the famous M&M’s chocolates. Catch a bus ride up to the "Stratosphere" where you can grab spectacular views of the whole city and if you dare, test your courage on one of the rides. If you are into shopping take a trip out to the "Outlet Shops" to grab a bargain or visit the markets located on the strip.
"The Grand Canyon" is sure to amaze you. There are so many different options available to see this beauty, if you have time I fully recommend doing a bus trip for the day. The thought of sitting on a bus for a day didn’t appeal to us but the tour desk operator convinced us otherwise and assured us we wouldn’t be disappointed. It was a long day but well worth it. We experienced Hoover Dam, Route 66 not to mention the countless stops along the way. After leaving Nevada and crossing into Arizona at Hoover Dam we travelled through the Mohave Desert. With countless stops in small towns there was plenty of opportunity to stretch your legs. When we arrived at "The Grand Canyon" we were given plenty of time to walk the south rim and could do so at our own pace taking plenty of photos along the way.
Yes this city definitely does have it all, whatever your budget or taste I’m sure if you experience this amazing city you wont be disappointed, I know we will be going back.
